FAQ

u

How often shoould I water my gymno?

Gymnocalyciums do not need to, nor do they want to be watered every day. Water your gymnos every 10-14 days and do not water if any part of the soil is still slightly moist.

u

Can my gymno tolerate full sun?

I always recommend against pllacing a gymnocalycium in full sun, as naturally they grow under trees and the suns strong rays could burn or even kill the cactus.

u

is it normal for my new cactus to have small roots?

It is perfectly ok for a new cactus to have small roots. remember these are not your typical plant from outdoors, they grow much more thin and brittle roots than your everyday plant. luckily, cacti tend to grow roots fairly quick and over a period of time will anchor itself in the correct conditions.

u

what soil mix should i use?

The best kind of soil for a cactus is a gritty one. ingredients such as perlite, zeolite, pumice, poultry grit, cleansed horticultural sand, etc. are all great additives to your peat or dirt. always keep your ratio at a maximum 50% soil to ensure great drainage. The Gymnojess Gritty Goodness soil uses a 40/60 ration peat to grit!

u

will my cactus flower?

In the correct conditions, nearly every single cactus will flower, including the small gymnocalyciums!
